Art of Fashion NYC 2011

Wednessday September 14, I participated in my first NYC Art Show which was followed by a fashion show. Nine other talented artists joined together with me at the A.O.F. Gallery inside the Hotel Chelsea. It turnned out to be a very successful night. I was able to sell a few pieces of art and got to meet an interesting mix of various artists in the NYC area.

Josiah is adjusting pretty well by this point. Already he has been to all 5 boroughs of NYC and can point them all out on a map. He will start Kindergarten this Thursday. He has also been learning his letters and numbers and helps me find my way on the subway. August was a fun month of exploring various parks and neighborhoods, going to museums, enjoying great food, and setting up our apartment. Now that we are setteled in, I predict September will be a very productive month. I finally splurged on buying art supplies to finish setting up my studio. I can't wait for my easel and canvas to come! I am also starting a nude figure drawing class at the Academy of Art University, where I hope to have some fun engaging with other artists in the city and possibly making some friends. Happy to finish a series of paintings in progress this month, and start fresh with a new body of work. Keep checking back as I will be updating my website this month.

Lately my only focus has been on preparing Josiah for the move. I really miss painting right now but have to put little man first. We will arive in NYC July 28th. Having a hard time focusing on anything besides what will fit into a box, and getting paperwork ready for Josiah to start Kindergarten in Brooklyn. I can't wait to be setteled in our tiny apartment painting the night away!!! I've worked a little here and there on a new mother bird series I started in February and can't wait to get back to it.

Enjoying a nice winter break with friends and family, but I am excited to get back to painting in January! I have been in a transition of moving so painting space has been limited living with family. They got upset when I tried to take over the dining room around Christmas with tarps, canvas, turpentine, ect... so I packed everything up for decorating purposes. Currently I have work up at the Basement Gallery, so feel free to check it out.
